Why WellNP Exists
After nearly two decades in healthcare—first as a primary care NP since 2005, then expanding into psychiatric practice in 2022—I've witnessed the evolution of our healthcare system from the inside. From medical director roles managing teams of physicians, NPs, PAs, RNs, and care managers to involvement with startups and EMR creation, I've seen both the incredible potential and the frustrating limitations of traditional healthcare delivery.
"Post-COVID, when remote care became accessible to everyone, I realized I wanted to offer my years of experience directly to patients—without having to 'sell my way' into another company's vision of healthcare."
The turning point came when I kept finding myself delaying the leap to independent practice. I couldn't find a niche where I didn't have to limit myself to just psychiatric NP services. I wanted a space where I could offer my unique blend of primary care experience, psychiatric expertise, leadership background, and business acumen—all the wisdom accumulated over years of diverse healthcare roles.
But there was another problem I kept encountering: clinicians could never easily access the resources they needed. How many times have we all scrambled to find ADHD testing centers, sleep labs, or specialized services for our patients? These essential resources were scattered, outdated, or simply hard to locate when you needed them most.
The Healthcare Professional's Dilemma
Like many of my colleagues, I've struggled with burnout. I've watched the quality of true customer service decline while employee support simultaneously diminishes. When we try to focus on patient care, we lose our voice in the process. When we speak up for what patients need, we're told to focus on metrics and throughput.
There had to be a better way—a space where experienced professionals could practice with autonomy while patients could access the depth of expertise they deserve.
The Patient's Challenge
Patients, meanwhile, face their own frustrations. They're rushed through 15-minute appointments, struggle to find specialists who take their insurance, and often feel like their complex health concerns can't be addressed in the time constraints of traditional practice.
Meanwhile, there are experienced NPs out there—professionals with decades of wisdom—who want to practice differently but don't know how to make the transition to independence.
The Journey to WellNP
2005
Started as Primary Care NP
Began practicing as an adult nurse practitioner, learning the foundations of patient care and building relationships within traditional healthcare systems.
2020-2022
COVID-19 & Remote Care Revolution
Witnessed firsthand how remote care could break down barriers. Realized that technology had finally caught up with the vision of accessible, personalized healthcare.
2024
The "Aha" Moment
Realized that the solution wasn't finding the perfect niche—it was creating a platform where experienced NPs could offer their full range of expertise while having access to comprehensive resources.
2012
Entered Healthcare Leadership
Became a medical director, first in virtual care, then office-based, eventually managing at the district level—overseeing diverse healthcare teams and learning the business side of healthcare.
2022
Expanded to Psychiatric Practice
Added psychiatric NP credentials, deepening understanding of mental health integration and the complexity of whole-person care.
2025
WellNP is Born
Launched WellNP as a comprehensive platform combining independent NP practice, peer education, and resource accessibility—everything I wished had existed when I was ready to make the leap.
